Hurricane Harvey

During Hurricane Harvey, H-E-B’s total contribution to disaster relief efforts exceeded $6 million. This included monetary commitments, support for emergency shelters, food bank donations, volunteer hours, and the deployment of H-E-B’s Mobile Kitchens and Disaster Relief Units.

In addition to H-E-B contributions, Charles Butt, H-E-B’s Chairman, donated $5 million to the Justin J. Watt Foundation to further aid relief efforts in Houston.

The H-E-B Mobile Kitchen was sent to Orange on Friday, August 28, 2020, to provide support for the disaster. From Saturday through Monday, residents in the area and Louisiana came to receive hot meals, ice, and cases of water.

Hurricane season is June 1 through November 30. The following Tips can help you plan and be better prepared.

Home Hurricane Tips

  • Keep trees and shrubbery trimmed
    of diseased and dead wood

  • Cover all large windows and patio doors
    with securely fastened storm shutters
    made from 5/8″ thick plywood or greater

  • Secure doors using a security deadbolt
    lock with 1″ minimum bolt throw length

  • Fill available gasoline containers,
    keep them full until the end of the
    hurricane season

  • Bring outdoor furniture, toys,
    garbage cans, potted plants,
    garden tools, etc. inside.

  • Flashlight
  • Extra batteries
  • Cash and credit cards
  • Personal ID
  • Spare car keys
  • Cell phones & portable chargers
