The FDA’s guidelines are followed by all blood centers in the nation and your eligibility is determined by your medications\, travel\, health conditions\, and lifestyle. \nTo donate blood or platelets\, you must: \n\n\n\n\n\nBe at least 16 years old\, weigh 120 pounds and present a signed parental consent form or be 17 years old or older\, and weigh at least 110 pounds.\nBe in good general health.\nPresent a valid photo ID.\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you taking any medication?\n\n\n\n\nSome medications can prevent you from donating temporarily or permanently.
