DESCRIPTION:Schreiner University will be hosting the Volunteer Service Council for Kerrville State Hospital’s Annual “Shatter the Stigma” 5k and Fun Run! \nAccording to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) nearly 1 in 5 US adults live with a mental illness\, and just under half of those with a mental illness ended up receiving treatment. Given this fact\, it is more important than ever for us to gather as compassionate humans to not only help shatter the stigma by bringing awareness to mental health through education\, but also to indirectly and directly champion our friends\, neighbors and family members who experience such challenges. \nThe Volunteer Service Council for Kerrville State Hospital and Schreiner University are institutions fully invested in working to reduce the negative stigma that is all too often attached to mental health challenges. That is why our “Shatter the Stigma” 5k and Fun Run will begin and end on the Schreiner University campus. \nSo\, whether you are keen on racing for a place on the podium or would like to participate by going at your own pace\, please join us for this very exciting and very important event! \nLocation: Schreiner University Trailhead Beer Garden \nRegister: Why?
