Hours of operation
H-E-B adapts store hours and operations to meet customer needs
To better serve our customers and increase product availability, all H-E-B stores and Central Market will close tonight at 8 p.m. Beginning Sunday, March 15, all stores will open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. until further notice. This also includes Joe V’s and Mi Tienda locations.
While we restock our shelves around the clock, much of our restocking and replenishment happens overnight when our stores are closed. This temporary change in store hours will give our Partners extra time to work diligently overnight to better stock our shelves. Limiting store hours and product purchases is a proven way to ensure the best service and product availability for all customers.
As we adapt to serve our communities, our customers will also see reduced services in our delis, bakeries and floral departments. These temporary changes in the way we run our stores will allow us to get customers the products they need. Customers will not be charged for cancelled orders due to department closures.
We will return to our regular hours and full services as soon as we can.

H-E-B stores remain open but Flaming Bird, South Flo Pizza, Table 620, 3009, Oaks Crossing, The Roastery Meyerland and some True Texas BBQ locations will be closed until further notice. Temporarily closing our restaurants will allow us to continue to focus on serving our customers and replenish products to H-E-B stores. We’ll reopen all our restaurants as soon as we’re able.
The following True Texas BBQ locations are open daily for to-go orders only from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., or until they run out. All orders are to-go only. No alcohol, brewed tea or sauce pumps. Sanitation and social distancing practices
H-E-B has taken extreme measures to heighten the frequency and awareness of sanitation and hygiene in our stores. Partners handwashing as often as possible and stores have hand sanitizer available at every point of sale for our customers and Partners. Stores are deep cleaned every day and Partners are given daily training and education on elevated sanitation protocols.
Also, H-E-B has implemented social distancing procedures across our business. Social distancing is an effective way to slow the spread and reduce the risk of exposure to the coronavirus. H-E-B is actively eliminating physical contact touch points and promoting that customers and Partners are proper distance between each other. H-E-B has store Partners who are trained to ensure sanitation and social distancing programs are properly followed.
Here are a few highlights of our social distancing program:
- Partners sanitize all shopping cart handles and seats as customers enter the store.
- At times, we will limit entry to stores via one entrance for better management of proper social distancing.
- Crowd control guidelines are in place to manage customer traffic while allowing customers to shop quickly and practice proper social distancing.
- Floor decals are placed at checkstand lanes and store entrances to inform customers where they should stand to be a safe distance.
- Hard surfaces throughout the store as well as fuel stations are sanitized frequently throughout the day.
- Checkstand partitions are in place to offer a buffer between the cashier and customer.
In-store departments and events
As we adapt to serve our customers, our communities need to adapt to temporary changes in the way we run our stores. To provide the best service, customers may see changes and limited services in our bakery, deli and floral departments, as well as our Showtime and Cooking Connection stations. Partners dedicated to these areas will temporarily support our customer experience in store as well as H-E-B Curbside pickup and Home Delivery operations.
Options for seniors and neighbors in need
H-E-B is now offering one of the safest, healthiest solutions in the marketplace dedicated to seniors who are worried about going out in public. H-E-B, in partnership with Favor Delivery, launched a simple, low-cost solution that gives seniors (60+) access to their very own personal shopper by phone, allowing them to get essential food and supplies delivered, while remaining in the comfort and safety of their home.
H-E-B and Favor will staff its Senior Support phone line with volunteers from both companies to accept and process orders over the phone from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., seven days a week. All orders are for same-day delivery. To access the Senior Support Line, call 1-833-397-0080. Seniors can also place their orders on Favor’s website at favordelivery.com, or by downloading the Favor app and searching for “H-E-B.”
While the program isn’t available everywhere an H-E-B is located, there are plans to quickly expand this service. In those areas, we encourage people who need assistance with food, bills and childcare to contact 211. Know, we’re working closely with local nonprofits across the state, looking for ways to serve our most vulnerable communities.
Many customers have inquired about designating time for seniors to shop prior to the stores opening to the general public. We appreciate all our customers and thank you for this suggestion. Our leadership team studied this option thoroughly and due to recommendations from health officials and the CDC we have determined this is not the best and safest option for our customers. We’re promoting social distancing and please know will be announcing more ways to deliver products to those in need, including our seniors.
We are working closely with local non-profits and Texas Food Banks to get product to those who need it the most. H-E-B announced it will make an initial $3 million commitment to support Texas nonprofits helping vulnerable communities and organizations conducting groundbreaking coronavirus research. With this gift, H-E-B’s partnership with local nonprofits will provide relief to some of our most vulnerable neighbors: seniors, children and low-income families. Part of this commitment will provide $500,000 in financial assistance to organizations dedicated to mobilized home feeding services for seniors and low-income families such as Meals on Wheels.
Please remember that while preparation is important, panic is not necessary. We encourage preparedness but there’s no need to overbuy. H-E-B has plenty of product and it arrives daily. We are in this as a community and it’s important to keep calm. Together, we can do our part to #SlowtheSpreadTexas.
