In accordance with Mann Packing of Salinas, California, H‑E‑B announced today that it has issued a voluntary recall for certain H‑E‑B single‑serving soups made with vegetable products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. On Oct. 19, as part of a larger recall affecting several retailers, Mann Packing recalled affected vegetable products, which were supplied to H‑E‑B and used in H‑E‑B Asian Noodle Soup Cups Beef and Chicken.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
There have not been any reports of illness regarding the H‑E‑B soups made with product supplied by Mann Packing. All product has been removed from H‑E‑B stores.
H‑E‑B is asking customers that may have purchased one of these products to return it to their nearest H‑E‑B store for a full refund.
