At H-E-B, through our Operation Appreciation program, we acknowledge the sacrifices made not only by our brave military service members but also by their children in service to our nation. We take pride in supporting the growth of these resilient young individuals, honoring their courage and strength. Through purposeful programs, our commitment is to extend assistance to military-connected children and their parents by partnering with military nonprofits. These initiatives are specifically designed to offer academic and scholarship assistance to fostering social and emotional well-being, our programs aim to provide a holistic support system. Our ultimate objective is to guide and empower them on a meaningful journey, be it in college, pursuing opportunities at H-E-B, or navigating the various facets of life.
It’s estimated that there are more than 1.6 million children of military service members who are active duty and reserves, according to the Defense Department. These children face a multitude of challenges such as separation form a deployed parent, loss of a parent, frequent relocation, and more.
