On March 15th, 2025, Decolonizing the Music Room will present its fifth annual Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival (FWAAMFest) at Southside Preservation Hall in Fort Worth’s Near Southside Cultural District. FWAAMFest highlights the often forgotten and obscured presence of blackness in the history and current performance of American roots music traditions. The festival features performances, workshops, and presentations from critically-acclaimed Black roots artists from throughout North America who are reclaiming cultural narratives through preservation and innovation. The event runs from noon to 10 pm.

Festival hours are 12 pm – 10 pm
Parking Information: General parking is available in the lot on the north side of the building, off of Maddox St. The parking lot on the south side of the building has accessible parking but is otherwise used for artist/staff load in.
