H-E-B launches second round of San Antonio Spurs commercials

H-E-B released another round of its beloved San Antonio Spurs commercials. The two newest spots feature the 7-foot-3 rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama alongside Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell, and will include hilarity and hijinks centered around H-E-B Creamy Creations ice cream.

The most recent commercials, which are titled “Stand Out” and “Taller,” showcase the quartet using H-E-B’s iconic ice cream brand in creative ways. The Spurs Coyote also makes an appearance.

In “Taller,” the teammates get technical and stack gallon-sized tubs of Creamy Creations ice cream to determine Wembanyama’s height. While in “Stand Out,” they take inspiration for various Creamy Creations ice cream flavors to help determine some new hairstyles.

The 30- and 15-second spots will air on television and social media in select markets across Texas. In the coming weeks, H-E-B will launch the following activations related to the new commercials:

  • all San Antonio and Austin stores will install an actual-size poster cutout featuring Wembanyama standing next to stacked tubs of Creamy Creations ice cream
  • an in-arena Creamy Creations wig fan-cam experience during Spurs home games
  • Creamy Creations hair filter on social media
  • a collaboration with San Antonio-based designer Kiké Sanchez, to create a one-of-a-kind gym bag exclusively for Jeremy Sochan that uses themes from San Antonio Spurs and H-E-B Creamy Creations ice cream

H-E-B released the first two commercials on Wednesday, Dec. 13. In the spots, Jeremy Sochan shows-off his one-handed skills, and Victor Wembanyama uses his expansive wingspan to show how many trips it really takes to bring in a haul of groceries.

“We’re always looking for ways to entertain our fans, and for this year’s commercials, we’re excited to welcome some new faces to the lineup,” said Ashwin Nathan, H-E-B Group Vice President of Marketing. “For nearly 20 years, we’ve enjoyed teaming up with the Spurs organization for these spots, which have become favorites for our loyal customers and committed Spurs fans.”

Fans can catch all commercials on H-E-B’s YouTube page and its other social media platforms. The commercials will be televised throughout the season in select Texas markets. The marketing campaign also will include billboards featuring Victor Wembanyama, which will launch in February in San Antonio and Austin.

This continued collaboration between H-E-B and Spurs Sports & Entertainment has led to numerous community investment projects and provided Spurs fans and H-E-B customers with player appearances and fan appreciation events throughout the year.
