H-E-B and Favor celebrate nurses serving on the frontlines for National Nurses Week

In honor of National Nurses Week, H-E-B and Favor Delivery will celebrate hard-working nurses, recognizing them for their tireless efforts to keep Texans healthy. Throughout this week, H-E-B in partnership with Favor will gift more than 4,000 beautiful plants and floral bouquets to nurses serving on the frontlines of the coronavirus crisis.

Earlier this week, H-E-B launched an effort encouraging Texans to show their appreciation and nominate nurses at more than 20 hospitals across the state. Starting on National Nurses Day and continuing throughout this week, H-E-B will surprise nurses with floral bouquets and plants, which will be delivered by Favor Runners.

“Nurses are the heartbeat of our healthcare system. They are selfless champions filled with caring and kindness,” said Winell Herron, Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs. “We are forever thankful for these hard-working heroes on the frontlines who sacrifice daily to protect the health of our communities.”

For this effort, the H-E-B Blooms floral team worked directly with local Texas growers Klepac Greenhouses and Arnosky Family Farms. Flowers from both companies can be found throughout the year in H-E-B Blooms floral departments, which are reopening in H-E-B stores across Texas.

Based in Blanco County, Klepac Greenhouses, which has been in business since 1953, is supplying colorful plants such as chrysanthemums and Gerbera daisies. Honored that their flowers will go to recognize nurses across Texas, Sheryl Simpson, director of sales for the company, said that their partnership with H-E-B is critical during this time because it gets “product moving out the front door into the marketplace and not out the back door.” Down the road, Pamela Arnosky and a handful of her employees, arranged bright, fresh bouquets filled with lilies, snapdragons, yellow coneflower, and salvia, which are grown on 30 acres at her Hill Country farm.

“Flowers are nature. When they’re given as a gift, they can put a smile on someone’s face and make people feel rejuvenated and uplifted,” said Arnosky, who co-owns Arnosky Family Farm with her husband. “It’s real what H-E-B does for our communities, and we’re blessed to be a part of this generosity.”

Continuing the charge of Texans helping Texans, this fun, appreciative gift comes on the heels of H-E-B’s donation of nearly 80,000 fresh chef-inspired meals to hospitals across Texas to feed doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis. In March, H-E-B made a $3 million commitment to help local nonprofits that are providing relief to some of our most vulnerable neighbors: seniors, children and low-income families. Along with that initial commitment, H-E-B has also donated more than 140 truckloads of product to Texas food banks throughout the crisis, totaling nearly 8.5 million meals.

Keeping with our Spirit of Giving and Helping Here philosophies, H-E-B is dedicated to supporting the more than 300 communities we serve. H-E-B is here for all Texans, and it’s important to support one another during this time of need. Together, we can slow the spread in Texas.
