In the spirit of giving, H-E-B donated nearly 2,000 H-E-B Meal Simple Thanksgiving meals to the San Antonio Food Bank on Wednesday. Just in time for the holiday, H-E-B along with the San Antonio Food Bank delivered the ready-to-heat meals and surprised area seniors at the George Cisneros housing complex on the city’s west side.
Each H-E-B Meal Simple meal pack feeds a family of four to eight and includes turkey or ham and all the traditional trimmings such as mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. Together, H-E-B and the San Antonio Food Bank were able to distribute meals to each resident at the complex.
“For me it’s an joy that we have a meal for each and everyone,” said Carmen Cantu, a resident at Cisneros apartments. “All the residents that are here, they’re happy that we got the food bank to come out here to be with us. I would like to thank San Antonio Housing, also the food bank and especially H-E-B, very well know all over San Antonio.”
Throughout the holiday season and the year, H-E-B is proud to team with San Antonio Food Bank, an amazing partner in the fight against hunger. With help from dedicated organizations such as the San Antonio Food Bank, H-E-B is able to donate roughly 32 million pounds of food to people in need each year.
