H-E-B and San Antonio Spurs hit nothing but net with new commercials

H-E-B and the San Antonio Spurs are at it again with a lineup of fun-filled commercials, featuring slapstick performances by current players and team legends. To tip off the Silver and Black’s 2019-20 season, six commercials will roll out in the coming weeks during regular-season games.

The 30-second spots will showcase a star-studded cast that includes LaMarcus Aldridge, DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay, Patty Mills, and the newest addition to the award-winning spots, shooting guard Bryn Forbes. Stacked with current and future hall of famers, the Spurs legends spot includes Bruce Bowen, Tim Duncan, Sean Elliott, George Gervin, Manu Ginobili and David Robinson. Together they welcome into the ranks, four-time NBA champion Tony Parker.

“I recently noticed an award on my shelf and realized this was the 15th anniversary of us doing commercials with the Spurs,” said Cory Basso, H-E-B Group Vice President of Marketing & Advertising. “Every year, the players love making them and the fans love seeing them.”

This year, Spurs players dress up as pirates and get animated, while the Spurs Coyote cooks up something smoky, Manu and Bruce fancy some cheesy art by San Antonio artist Rob the Original, and the Legends Club retires to a Texas ranch to grill, ax throw and do a little goat yoga. The amusing ads will spotlight a collection of H-E-B products and Primo Picks such as Meal Simple, H-E-B Mootopia, H-E-B Natural beef, and H-E-B seafood and sushi. Fans will even get a glimpse at the “All Tony Vehicle,” which was designed by Tim Duncan’s BlackJack Speed Shop.

The first two commercials will be shown during the KENS 5 television broadcast and in the arena for the season opener against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The remaining commercials will air in the San Antonio area during upcoming games. Once released, fans can watch all the commercials at heb.com/spurs.

This continued collaboration between H-E-B and Spurs Sports & Entertainment has led to community investment projects and provided Spurs fans and H-E-B customers with player appearances and fan appreciation events throughout the year.
