H-E-B has hit the road, stopping at several communities to celebrate the H-E-B Feast of Sharing. These annual gatherings include more than 250,000 meals served during 30 dinners throughout Texas and Mexico.
Filled with food, music, and good cheer, these free holiday feasts bring together family, friends and neighbors, and provides H-E-B an opportunity to give thanks to its loyal customers. Launched in 1989, the H-E-B Feast of Sharing invites everyone to our holiday dinner table. Also, this initiative is an important part of H-E-B’s Food Bank Assistance Program, which works year-round to prevent hunger.
This year, to commemorate the 30th anniversary for the H-E-B Feast of Sharing in Corpus Christi and Laredo, the cities where the event was launched, H-E-B made a $150,000 gift to the South Texas Food Bank capital campaign.
Since the event began, H-E-B has introduced the celebration to more than two dozen other cities. Additionally, in select cities, H-E-B Partners (employees) will deliver the holiday meals to homebound seniors.
“Giving back to the community is at the heart of who we are as a company,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs. “The H-E-B Feast of Sharing gives us a wonderful opportunity to bring together the communities we serve to break bread, enjoy one another’s company, and get the holiday season off to a festive start.”
For each H-E-B Feast of Sharing event, hundreds of H-E-B Partners and community volunteers prepare traditional holiday meals, many of which are made and delivered from H-E-B’s mobile kitchens. Meals will include thousands of pounds of turkey breast or glazed ham, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, vegetables medley, rolls and pie.
