H-E-B announces new store on San Antonio’s East Side

The store is expected to open in late 2026.

With construction already underway, H-E-B has plans to open a new store along a bustling corridor on San Antonio’s far east side. Located at the intersection of I-10 and 1604 East near Converse, the store is expected to open in late 2026.

The store is a part of H-E-B’s investment in a rapidly growing area on San Antonio’s eastern edge. At 125,000 square feet, the store will feature a True Texas BBQ Restaurant with indoor seating, a Pharmacy with drive-thru service, and the expansive product selection that H-E-B customers have come to expect. The store will also offer both H-E-B Curbside with more than 30 Curbside parking spaces and Home Delivery service, which will serve many surrounding neighborhoods.

The store’s General Manager, Will Tate, is originally from the area and has held leadership positions at several H-E-B stores.

I have some deep roots in this community. I grew up here,” said Tate, who has worked at H-E-B for more than 30 years. “I’m looking forward to working with our Partners to create a store environment that both serves and celebrates the people in this community.”

Tate added that the store will serve customers in several east side communities as well as commuters on their way home to Seguin, La Vernia, and other outlying areas.
