H-E-B buys land in Edwards Ranch community for a store that will serve southwest Fort Worth

The store will be part of the Overland master-planned development from Cassco

H-E-B has purchased property in a master-planned development that is part of the Edwards Ranch and has plans to build an H-E-B store there that will serve southwest Fort Worth.

The more than 20-acre property is located at the northeast corner of Chisholm Trail Parkway and Oakmont Blvd. The store will be situated in the 250-acre Overland community, a part of the Edwards Ranch, which has been family owned since 1848. Since 1956, the development arm of the Edwards family, Cassco, has developed their land for neighborhoods and mixed-use projects such as Clearfork, Riverhills, Overton Park, and Tanglewood.

“We are honored to partner with H-E-B, a beloved Texas institution whose deep connection to its customers and neighborhoods closely reflects our own values of thoughtful development and investment in the Fort Worth community,” said Cassco president Crawford Edwards. “H-E-B has earned the trust and loyalty of generations of Texans, and we look forward to the meaningful role they will play in the Overland community for years to come.”

Construction will start early next year, and the H‑E‑B store is expected to open in late 2028. Inside and out, the new store will reflect the unique character of the surrounding community. Plans are still being developed for the store, and additional details will be shared as the project develops.

“H-E-B is proud to partner with Cassco in developing our new location at Chisholm Trail Parkway and Oakmont. The Edwards family has always been forward thinking and very patient as they have successfully developed legacy properties to serve the neighborhoods of west and southwest Fort Worth,” said Stephen Butt, president of H‑E‑B Shareholder Relations. “For years, customers have asked us when a new H‑E‑B would come closer to downtown Fort Worth, and with our new store on Chisholm Parkway, we can now say that day is soon.”

The largest privately held employer in Texas, H‑E‑B continues to grow its business across all areas of the company, maintaining its push as an economic driver for Texas.
