H-E-B donates 500,000 diapers to diaper banks across Texas

Statewide diaper distribution celebrates National Diaper Need Awareness Week

H-E-B hit the road this week to deliver more than 500,000 diapers to celebrate National Diaper Need Awareness Week across Texas. As part of this week-long celebration, H-E-B’s Hunger Relief team delivered diapers and other essentials to a dozen diaper banks and nonprofit organizations in the state.

One in two U.S. families struggles to provide enough diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy, according to the National Diaper Bank Network. National Diaper Need Awareness Week provides opportunities to support families so babies have access to clean diapers and other necessities.

“At H-E-B, we’re committed to supporting our local communities and families in need with necessary resources,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs. “It is our privilege to provide a helping hand to Texas families with these essential baby supplies.”

Throughout the week, H-E-B Partners delivered diapers as well as other much-needed essentials such as baby wipes, baby snacks, and distilled water. In addition to the product donations, H-E-B also made monetary gifts of $25,000 to the Texas Diaper Bank San Antonio and $10,000 gift to the Austin Diaper Bank. More than $15,000 in gift card donations were also given to diaper banks and nonprofits statewide.

H-E-B’s Hunger Relief team works year-round to support initiatives that provide food and other essentials to families in need throughout Texas and Mexico. Last year, H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program donated 33 million pounds of food and other essentials to food banks. And since 1982, the year the program was founded, H-E-B has donated more than 1 billion pounds of food to 5,500 non-profit organizations in Texas and Mexico.
