H-E-B also surprises customers with tickets to Finals games, free groceries, and signed jerseys
Celebrating the San Antonio Spurs march to the Finals, H-E-B donated $500,000 to fund youth basketball courts in underserved communities across the Lone Star State. H-E-B will coordinate with Spurs Give, the official nonprofit of Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E), to bring new courts to communities in San Antonio, Austin, Brownsville, and Corpus Christi through their ongoing Spurs Play initiative.

“H-E-B is passionate about supporting children and families in Texas. We’re excited that this donation will help create more places for kids and young athletes to stay active and learn teamwork,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity, and Environmental Affairs. “As the Spurs compete for another championship, we’re proud to support Spurs Give and their mission to provide Texas youth with more opportunities on the court.”
As part of H-E-B’s steadfast commitment to the San Antonio community, H-E-B also purchased tickets to Games 1 and 2 of the Finals, which were given to select customers at San Antonio stores throughout the week. In addition, H-E-B surprised customers with free groceries and signed jerseys.
“Spurs fans are some of the most passionate fans around, and as a longtime sponsor of the team, H-E-B was ready to surprise several lucky customers with tickets so they could be part of the action,” Herron added.
We are deeply appreciative of H-E-B for their generosity and partnership in our mission. Through our Spurs Play program, we’ve seen how access to quality play spaces can inspire the next generation to dream bigger,” said RC Buford, CEO for SS&E.
H-E-B’s gift punctuates a week of community outreach, which includes the 41st H-E-B Tournament of Champions, an annual event that supports local nonprofits that focus on the needs of Texas children and families in one of the largest charitable events in the nation.
