On May 7, H-E-B will celebrate Military Spouse Appreciation Day by gifting nearly 5,000 floral bouquets to military spouse at stores and military bases across Texas.
Each year, H-E-B shows its unwavering support for dedicated military spouses and recognizes their significant contributions and sacrifices. First established by President Regan in 1984 and celebrated on the Friday before Mother’s Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day encourages everyone to recognize military spouses and the meaningful impact they have on our military communities.
This effort is part of H-E-B’s Week of Gratitude. For the week-long celebration, the retailer also honored and celebrated mothers, first responders, nurses, and teachers by gifting meals, flowers, gift cards and gift baskets during several appreciation events held throughout the state.
Over the past few years, H-E-B has hosted dozens of appreciation events, which have served thousands of military spouses, the supportive foundation serving alongside those in the U.S. Armed Forces. H-E-B’s Military Spouse Appreciation Day events are one of many efforts associated with the company’s Operation Appreciation initiative, a year-round effort that honors and supports military Veterans and active duty service members and their families.
Launched in 2013, H-E-B’s Operation Appreciation is aimed at supporting, honoring, and providing employment opportunities to military service members and their families. Through H-E-B Operation Appreciation, H-E-B has hired thousands of veterans and active-duty service members, including their family members. Additionally, H-E-B’s annual donation campaign raises funds for the homes and other military-serving non-profits, including the Military Child Education Coalition, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and the United Service Organizations.
In 2021, H-E-B and H-E-B Tournament of Champions will dedicate five fully furnished, mortgage-free custom homes to severely wounded military veterans. Since 2013, H-E-B and the Tournament of Champions have gifted 32 homes as part of the H-E-B Homes Built for Heroes program.
