One Saturday morning in June, employees at the Bastrop County Animal Control and Shelter arrived at work to find the shelter underwater. Overnight, a water fountain had leaked and caused flooding throughout their entire building, including the surgery room. The damage resulted in the displacement of the animals and cost more than $50,000.
To support the shelter in their recovery efforts, H-E-B made a special delivery and surprise donation to the shelter. On Monday, H-E-B Partners from the Central Texas Public Affairs Team and H-E-B Bastrop Store delivered more than 1,300 pounds of animal food and $2,000 worth of cat litter, and presented the shelter with a $5,000 check.
The shelter is currently open with animals available for adoption.
This recent gift is part of H-E-B’s overall support of animal shelters across the state of Texas, including donating 1% of sales of Heritage Ranch pet food to Texas animal shelters.
