“H-E-B has been an innovator in community pharmacy practice in Texas. The UT College of Pharmacy has a long history of collaboration with H-E-B, including training the next generation of pharmacists through internships, experiential rotations, and post-graduate residencies,” said Samuel M. Poloyac, Pharm.D., Ph.D., dean of the UT College of Pharmacy. “The opening of the new pharmacy on the UT Austin campus is a wonderful opportunity to enhance our partnership. We are excited to work together on this new endeavor.”

Lauren Clark, who received her Pharm. D. from UT Austin, will be the pharmacy manager of the H-E-B pharmacy at UTHTB. A 13-year Partner (employee), Clark has held various leadership roles at H-E-B, including pharmacy manager at the H-E-B store on E. 51st in Austin. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for the Texas Pharmacy Association.

In collaboration with the UT College of Pharmacy, the location will include a community-based pharmacy residency program, which provides post-graduate advanced training taught by experienced, licensed pharmacists. Established in 2008, the H-E-B and UT at Austin College of Pharmacy program has trained dozens of student residents in Austin and San Antonio with the mission to sharpen proficiencies in patient care, leadership skills and clinical knowledge to best serve the community.

In celebration of the location’s grand opening, H-E-B will donate $5,000 in gift cards to UT Health Austin. The gift cards will be distributed to lower-income patients at UT Health Austin. In addition, H-E-B will make a $5,000 gift to the H-E-B Residency Program at UT Health Austin.
