With more than five decades serving Ennis, company announces major investment for new store
After more than five decades serving the Ennis community, H‑E‑B has plans for a major investment that will bring a new store to the North Texas city. The store is expected to be more than double the size of the existing location in downtown Ennis, and the company will start moving forward with this landmark project sometime in mid-2027.
With a new footprint, customers can look forward to all the convenient services, quality products and low prices customers expect from H‑E‑B. The new store will also have a full-service Pharmacy with drive-thru, offer Curbside service with dedicated parking and Home Delivery, and South Flo Pizza, which offers handcrafted artisan pizza that’s made to order.

Other store features will include:
- A bakery featuring handmade artisan breads, cakes, and warm tortillas made in-store daily
- Expansive selections in grocery and general merchandise departments such as dairy, frozen foods, baby and seasonal
- Meat and Seafood markets with Prime, natural, and organic meats, fully cooked options, and fresh fish and seafood delivered daily
- As the #1 beer and wine retailer in Texas, the store will have extensive craft beer and wine selections
- Healthy Living department with bulk food items, sports nutrition products and supplements
- Beauty department with a wide selection of cosmetics and other beauty essentials
- Pet department featuring Heritage Ranch by H‑E‑B pet food and toys and treats for all your furry friend’s needs
- H‑E‑B Blooms department with custom arrangements and décor items
- H‑E‑B Texas Backyard, your one-stop shop for live plants, pottery, soil and outdoor gardening needs
- H‑E‑B Meal Simple section with fresh chef-inspired meals prepared in store
- Sushiya sushi made in-store daily and Asian grill items such as rice and noodle bowls
- H-E-B South Flo Pizza, freshly made and handcrafted in-house daily.
The current Ennis H‑E‑B, located at 101 S. Clay, will remain open until the new store becomes operational. No plans have been decided on what H‑E‑B will do with the property once it closes.
Partners who work at the store will have the opportunity to transition to the new location. Additional roles and positions will be needed for the new store, and job opportunities will be posted on the H‑E‑B Careers page once they become available.
