H-E-B sends care packages to military servicemembers in celebration of Independence Day

The first 1,000 active-duty service members nominated will receive a care package filled with H-E-B favorites

Starting this 4th of July, customers can nominate active-duty military service members serving our country away from home and H-E-B will send them a care package filled with H-E-B favorites.

Nominations are now open and will be accepted until 1,000 are received. Visit heb.com/militarycarepackages to nominate your military hero for them to receive a package filled with H-E-B favorites. Our H-E-B Partners will handwrite a personal thank you message for each care package, adding a special touch for your service member.

“H-E-B proudly supports our nation’s military, and as we commemorate Independence Day, we are delighted to send a taste of Texas to the brave military service members currently serving our country away from home,” said Johnny Mojica, H-E-B Public Affairs Manager.

This effort is one of more than 100 Independence Day celebrations H-E-B supports each year across Texas through its Operation Appreciation program.

Launched in 2013, H-E-B’s Operation Appreciation aims at supporting and honoring active-duty military service members, veterans and their families. The program focuses on providing employment opportunities and partnering with military-focused nonprofits. H-E-B also engages with the H-E-B Military Partner (employee) Resource Group. Throughout the year, H-E-B organizes events to honor service members, celebrate military spouses, support youth education initiatives, and observe significant holidays such as Independence Day, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day to pay tribute to our fallen heroes.

Additionally, H-E-B’s annual donation campaign raises funds for military-serving non-profits, including the Military Child Education Coalition, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, Gratitude Initiative, United Service Organizations, and many others. The program has provided more than $12 million to support military-based nonprofits as well as efforts that provide mortgage-free homes to severely wounded Veterans.

H-E-B, through its Operation Appreciation Homes Built for Heroes program, along with the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust has dedicated 52 mortgage-free homes to severely wounded Veterans, an effort that began in 2013. Since the program was launched a decade ago, H-E-B Operation Appreciation and the H-E-B Tournament of Champions have dedicated more than $7 million to this ongoing effort to build and furnish these homes. Throughout the years, H-E-B and the charitable trust have partnered with organizations such as the Gary Sinise Foundation, Homes for Our Troops, and Operation Finally Home to build these life-changing homes across Texas.

H-E-B has regularly been named a top workplace for military Veterans and was recognized by Forbes as a top employer for Veterans. Through H-E-B Operation Appreciation, H-E-B has hired more than 28,000 Veterans and military spouses since 2014.
