H-E-B has opened a new e-commerce fulfillment center in Leander, a project that expands the retailer’s commitment to integrate innovative technologies that drive omnichannel growth and provide a more convenient and better shopping experience for Texans.
The 50,000-square-foot facility, which is located at 651 North U.S. Highway 183 in Leander, will support H-E-B Curbside and Home Delivery orders throughout Leander and surrounding cities in Central Texas. H-E-B will provide training, competitive pay, and a robust benefits package that includes health, vision, and dental benefits; 401K with company match; Partner Stock Plan; scholarship programs; and career and leadership development. It’s expected that the Leander facility will employ more than 150 H-E-B Partners as part of the retailer’s e-commerce team.
To help support rising demand of online shopping, the e-commerce fulfillment centers stock goods found in stores, which are used to satisfy Curbside and Home Delivery orders. These facilities allow for more capacity, greater efficiency, less aisle congestion for the in-store shopper, and better product availability. To help streamline the process and increase productivity, the facilities use various forms of automation to help Partners throughout the order process. With these centers, H-E-B has grown supply chain capacity to help improve and power the expansion of its Curbside and Home Delivery services, which are available at more than 260 stores in Texas.
“At H-E-B, we’re always looking for ways to offer Texans a better shopping experience and more options to choose how they shop, pay for, and receive their products,” said Kedar Patel, H-E-B Vice President of e-Commerce. “Across our business we are adopting innovative technologies that give our Partners the tools they need to provide top-quality service to our customers whether they shop online or in our stores.”
The Leander facility marks H-E-B’s fifth e-commerce fulfillment center the company has opened since 2018. By the end of next year, H-E-B looks to open additional facilities across the state, including in Plano to help support the retailer’s expansion into the DFW Metroplex.
Through its Spirit of Giving philosophy, H-E-B is passionately dedicated to its customers beyond its stores. In this spirit, H-E-B celebrated the facility’s grand opening by making multiple gifts to area nonprofits. H-E-B gave a total of $5,000 in community gifts, which includes $2,500 to the Leander Public Library and $2,500 to Open My World Therapeutic Riding Center.
In addition to opening the new e-commerce fulfillment center, H-E-B late last year opened its second location in Leander, a 103,000-square-foot store at 19348 Ronald W. Reagan Blvd. in the new Bar W Marketplace. In May, H-E-B also opened an H-E-B Wellness Primary Care clinic inside the Leander store at Ronald Reagan Blvd., one of two clinics currently open in Central Texas.
