H-E-B announces opening date for Lake Austin store

The Lake Austin location will be the first multi-level store in Austin

H-E-B has set an opening date for its long-awaited Lake Austin store, which is scheduled to open its doors early next year on Feb. 15.

At 97,000 square feet, H-E-B Lake Austin will showcase a world-class shopping experience that offers top-notch customer service and a wide variety of fresh foods and quality products at everyday low prices. Located at 2652 Lake Austin Blvd., the store will have a two-story porch with views of the lake.  As the company’s first multi-level store in Austin, it will include features and innovations that make it a community gathering place.

Along with the expansive selection and convenient services H-E-B is known for, the store will have a True Texas BBQ restaurant, which was named best barbecue chain by Texas Monthly, and will include a full bar and indoor and outdoor seating; H-E-B’s critically acclaimed SouthFlo Pizza restaurant; coffee shop that will serve specialty coffee and handmade breakfast tacos; and H-E-B Curbside and Home Delivery, top-rated digital services that give customers choices on how they shop, pay for, and receive their products.

Additionally, the store will showcase a variety of departments such as:

  • Full-service Pharmacy with drive-thru
  • The company’s largest Dinner Tonight selection with Meal Simple offerings, fresh sushi, and Cooking Connection demos
  • Sushiya offering hand-made sushi made in-store daily and hot, ready-to-eat selections
  • Large seafood section with counter that offers fresh seafood seven day a week
  • Meat market with Prime, natural, and organic meats, Wagyu, dry-aged beef, and fully cooked options
  • As the #1 beer and wine retailer in Texas, the store has an extensive craft beer and wine section with a sampling station
  • Bakery featuring handmade artisan breads, cakes, and our famous in-store made, warm tortillas
  • Deli department with an expansive cheese selection and charcuterie station
  • Produce section with large organic and Texas-grown selections
  • Healthy Living department with bulk food items, sports nutrition products, and supplements
  • Expansive frozen foods selection
  • Full-service catering
  • Blooms floral department, offering online ordering and delivery service
  • Beauty department with a wide selection of cosmetics and other beauty items
  • Pet department featuring Heritage Ranch by H-E-B pet food and fun pet toys and treats
  • Household Essentials department with all you need to set your table, including seasonal disposable plates, bowls, and utensils

Structured underground parking will ensure the store has a welcoming, pedestrian-friendly perimeter with wide sidewalks to encourage walking and biking to the store as well as street-level landscape that softens the store’s impact on the neighborhood. With a second-level sales floor, customers will have access to three elevators, open stairway, and multiple escalators and cart escalators.

The store will include design elements that complement the neighborhood such as vine-covered walls; plenty of natural lighting; pitched roofs that relate the building’s scale to the surrounding neighborhood; and textured materials like limestone, wood, D’Hanis brick and metals. Design also will involve several environmental sustainability elements such as energy-efficient refrigeration with condensation capture for landscape irrigation as well as rooftop solar panels and EV chargers, which will be installed soon after the store opens.

The project was interrupted due to pandemic-related delays. Construction on Lake Austin H-E-B began in Oct. 2019.
